How do I stop something starting with my Mac?

By · Updated

Short answer

Open Startup Items with ⌥⇧⌘L, find the item (each is matched to the app it belongs to, and leftovers of deleted apps are marked) and click Turn Off. It stops the item and moves its file to the Trash, so Put Back in Activity restores it.

Steps

  1. 1Open Startup Items.⌥⇧⌘L
  2. 2Look for apps you don’t use, or leftovers of apps you deleted.
  3. 3Click Turn Off. Put it back from Activity if you need it.⇧⌘Y
  • Apple’s own items, security tools and device management are never offered.
  • Items installed for every user are shown with their owner; Turn Off works on your own items in ~/Library/LaunchAgents.
  • Apps that open in a window at login are in System Settings › General › Login Items.

How do I contact support?

Email support@getpeekaboo.app. It goes straight to the developer. Settings › License › Copy Support Info adds your app and macOS version, with the license key hidden.
