How do I install Peekaboo with Homebrew?
By Vishva Variya · Updated
Short answer
Run brew install --cask vishvavariya/peekaboo/peekaboo in Terminal. It installs the same signed, notarized app as the download, with the same 14-day free trial. Type the full name: plain “peekaboo” in Homebrew is an unrelated command-line tool.
Steps
- 1No Homebrew yet? Install it from brew.sh: paste the command shown there into Terminal and follow its prompts.
- 2Run brew install --cask vishvavariya/peekaboo/peekaboo. Homebrew adds the tap and copies Peekaboo into Applications.
- 3Open Peekaboo from Applications or Spotlight. When macOS asks, allow access to Desktop, Documents and Downloads.
- 4To buy, paste your license key into Settings › License. Nothing about the license depends on how you installed.
- Updates: Peekaboo updates itself, so brew upgrade skips it. Homebrew’s listed version catches up on its own.
- Already installed from the website? Run brew install --cask --adopt vishvavariya/peekaboo/peekaboo to let Homebrew manage that copy instead of installing a second one.
- --zap moves Peekaboo’s settings, index and caches to the Trash. Your own files aren’t touched.
- brew can’t deactivate your license. Moving the key to another Mac? Choose Deactivate This Mac… in Settings › License before uninstalling, or use Move to This Mac on the new one.

How do I contact support?
- Email support@getpeekaboo.app. It goes straight to the developer. Settings › License › Copy Support Info adds your app and macOS version, with the license key hidden.
