Peekaboo · Large File Finder
Find the big files on your Mac, and decide where they go
A full disk is usually a handful of big files you forgot about: an old export, a disk image, a video you watched once. Peekaboo’s Large Files lists them biggest first, shows when you last opened each one, and lets you move them off the Mac instead of only deleting.

What it does
- Filters that match the question
- Larger than 5 MB, 50 MB, 100 MB, 250 MB, 500 MB or 1 GB, and last used more than 30, 90, 180 or 365 days ago. Sort by size, by last used or by name.
- Move to Drive, not just delete
- Send big files to an external drive to free space. Nothing is deleted, files in use and iCloud placeholders are skipped, and Undo moves them back.
- Trash you can take back
- Move to Trash goes through Cleanup History, so one click puts every file back where it was.
- Leave things out
- Exclude a file, or the whole folder it’s in, from future scans, and it stops showing up. Quick Look, Show in Finder and Copy Path are a right-click away.
How to use it
- 1Open Clean Up and choose Large Files.
- 2Set Larger than and Last used, then sort by size.
- 3Select what you don’t need here, then Move to Drive or Move to Trash.
When another app fits better
Peekaboo lists files; it doesn’t draw them as a treemap. If you think in pictures of the disk, its Space Map or a dedicated analyzer like DaisyDisk or GrandPerspective may suit you better. And it never deletes permanently: files go to the Trash or an external drive.
Questions
How do I find large files on a Mac without an app?
- In Finder, press ⌘F, choose Kind ▸ Other ▸ File Size, and set “is greater than”. Or open Apple menu ▸ System Settings ▸ General ▸ Storage and look under Documents. Neither shows when a file was last used next to its size.
Does Move to Drive delete the original?
- It moves the file to the external drive, so it no longer takes space on the Mac. Nothing is deleted, and Undo moves it back.
Will it touch files in iCloud Drive?
- Files that are only in iCloud are skipped by Move to Drive. For downloaded iCloud files, Keep Only in iCloud frees the local copy and keeps the file in iCloud.
What size counts as large?
- You choose: anything from over 5 MB to over 1 GB. If nothing matches, the view offers the next smaller size.
