How do I make Peekaboo the default file browser instead of Finder?
By Vishva Variya · Updated
Short answer
Choose Peekaboo in Settings › General › Default file browser. Folders you open from other apps, Spotlight and the Dock then open in Peekaboo, and so does Show in Finder. The Desktop, the Trash, and Open and Save dialogs stay with Finder, and apps that are already open switch after you quit and reopen them.
On some macOS versions other apps aren’t allowed to open folders. There, Peekaboo’s Settings says so: folders from Spotlight, the Dock and other apps still open in Finder, and Show in Finder comes to Peekaboo.
In Settings
- Default file browserSettings › General
- When Peekaboo is the default, folders you open from other apps, Spotlight and the Dock open here, and so does Show in Finder.

How do I contact support?
- Email support@getpeekaboo.app. It goes straight to the developer. Settings › License › Copy Support Info adds your app and macOS version, with the license key hidden.
