Path Finder alternative: Peekaboo vs Path Finder
By Vishva Variya · Updated
Path Finder has been the power user’s Finder replacement for a long time: dual panes, a Drop Stack for collecting files, batch rename, folder compare and sync, hidden files on demand. It replaces how you navigate. Peekaboo changes how you find: instead of walking folders faster, you describe the file and it comes to you.

Why pick Peekaboo over Path Finder?
No yearly renewal
Path Finder sells a $29.95 yearly subscription or time-limited licence keys. Peekaboo is a one-time licence with a 14-day trial.
Search that skips the folders
“videos from my iPhone in August” finds them wherever they are. Path Finder’s Path Navigator and filter speed up browsing a folder you already know.
Know what to delete
Space Map, a duplicates finder and Clean Up with one-click undo answer “why is my disk full?”, which a navigator doesn’t.

The honest verdict
If you want Finder itself replaced, panes, stacks, sync and all, Path Finder is the more complete file manager and Peekaboo isn’t trying to be one. If what you actually want is to find things and keep the disk tidy, Peekaboo does that without a renewal, and you can keep Finder (or Path Finder) for navigating.
